Sound-creature from Soundctuary of Cappaduff
(gender-less sonic entity = sonoent)

This is singular track in tri-ality dimension composed from 3 parallel components:

Component 1: the core (intuition of every-now)
Component 2: compromise of construction (ideologies & compositions limitations)
Component 3: memory of abstraction as colour (parallel association)

First component is unedited live recording, digitally frozen moment of an attempt to tune-in within surrounding sound environment. The night was windy with sudden rather violent showers. You can hear “WSi” (“weather sensitive installation” = various chimes, springs, sound-flags, bells, large gong with objects sliding and hopping on its surface etc.) via ambient stereo-microphone and contact microphone (attached to gong) mixed live from inside studio in tandem with “murmurarium” (body sounds of crickets Acheta assimilis via mono mic and another contact mic) and of myself wearing body-rattles, finger-rattles and sound-shoes (picked up by additional mic and ultrasonic detector) and finally also playing “kwatar” (4-string fret less electric guitar with resonant effects) attempting to be equal energetic part of whole sound-ecosystem.

This recording is the core of radio-version, the rest of sounds are result of compositional fermentation and speculations. All these sounds you can hear in following second component*** with “the core” excluded. This component contains also another attempts to record live “the core” sequence of 27 min in previous days mixed all together.

Third component is a memory of me being in Taiwan - evolved sounds of nocturnal chorus of frogs and insects recorded in Taipei (2018) - it is a parallel - irrational - association with creative process in the form of abstract “colour”. It is another subjective layer I tried to subtly mix in while composing radio-version piece. This is a fond memory of lovely people and other entities I met during my artist-residency in Guandu Natural Reserve.


All three components are relevant to each other, they form triangular relationship while each holds its own independence. Listen each component separately, then do not play none and be still: “sonovise” (as equivalent to visualisation but in sound) all components simultaneously - as if hovering in multi-dimensional triangular formation (see illustration), hold to the “sonification” in singular point in your mind and listen for indefinite time from “within yourself”. You may also play them mixed together as stereo or in multichannel system, while you adjust volume levels to your liking synchronised from starting point.


Notes:

I have been exploring sounds since the late 70ties and after so many years, I am still just as fascinated by their endless potential. Not much has changed regarding the spirit of my approach: my goals, my direction, my focus: I am still searching for absolute freedom, the perfect conditions for freedom to arise _ to unfold effortlessly - ever evolving. The core - the heart - stays the same, while form evolves all the time ... sometimes leaping from one extreme to another, sometimes slowly eroding ... flowing in minute changes - each cycle almost identical to previous - the same the same but different - repeating in variations ... reset! again and again ...

I am listening in awe to surrounding environment. I wonder how I, as a human being, fit in? What is my place? How can “I” be an integral part of my environment by simply being “present”: here and now _ as an equal participant _ in the same way as weather, wildlife, any other occurring event. I am instinctively seeking a sense of balance, a feeling of harmonious belonging, a being-together. Connection.

The music, the sounds, seems having magical ability – superpower - to tune effortlessly together, to collide in energetic harmony. Through intensive listening everything becomes alive, every subtle sound shivering in the air in tandem with my feeling of belonging. The music rises from an unknown and I am listening – speechless - in the core of creation itself:_: just listening to the primeval tone of my soul weaving into every moment, every other moment and another: perpetually changing _ adapting _ seeking for harmony _ seeking for that feeling I am attracted to: freedom ... an opening of heart to the world – fearless: ...

I am using the immediate surrounding environment as interface for connecting with “the rest of the world”, call it “the reality” if you wish. I have impression when I am trying to tune myself to my immediate sound environment, it helps me to be more sensitive to every perceptible miniscule fluctuations and changes between tension in my body - the emotion and the environment. Sound is my portal: a place to dream of endless possibility, ofanother future unfolding. A dream. Abstraction.
